Folding-Arm Patio Awnings
No posts, no permanent roof — shade on demand over the braai area or patio, disappearing into a cassette the moment you don't need it.

New-estate patios are built for entertaining — wide paved areas opening straight off the living room, often facing north or west to catch the afternoon sun. That's a garden asset in winter and a reason nobody sits outside in summer. A folding-arm awning turns the patio back into a usable room in the heat and retracts to let the same low winter sun through — the seasonal argument a fixed roof simply can't make.
No posts means no interrupted sightlines to the garden or golf-adjacent green belt, and no clutter around the braai. Solution-dyed acrylic fabrics hold their colour under South African UV far longer than printed alternatives.
02A full cassette seals the fabric and arms away when retracted — the right choice for anything weather-exposed. Semi-cassette and open mounting are lighter options for sheltered positions. Crank-handle operation works, but motor plus wind sensor is the responsible spec on the Highveld: an awning caught open in a summer thunderstorm gust is exactly what gets destroyed, and auto-retract protects the investment before you've even noticed the sky change.
03It's a shade product, not a rain product — fine at a pitch in light drizzle, never intended for storm rain or standing water. Wind ratings are real limits, not suggestions, and the fixing substrate (brick, timber or steel) needs an actual site assessment before quoting, not a guess from a photo.
Priced mid-to-premium by width, projection, cassette and motorisation. Worth a proper measure and site visit rather than a phone estimate — the fixing substrate genuinely changes the spec.
Wide paved patios built for entertaining are the norm across this stretch of the West Rand — here's where our awnings go up most often.
